Epiphanic

Driving through Saltaire,
the trill of a distant alarm
sears through the car radio
and Debussy's La Mer...

I discourse with the traffic lights
and nearby mini mart
about the gift of epiphany
and its inroads to the Eternal:

'Elle est retrouvée.
Quoi ? - L'Eternité.
C'est la mer allée
Avec le soleil.
'

'Un coup de dès mêlée
Avec les trouvailles...
'
I added, sotto voce,
to the fish shop at the roundabout.
